They stood in the clear water of the gently flowing river. She trudged towards him, her red hakama trailing behind her in the gentle current. He watched her silently, his golden eyes shuttered and alert, his pale face stony. Kagome bit her bottom lip. She was treading on dangerous grounds. She was basically strolling through a landmine infested field towards a ticking bomb. Her nervous sapphire eyes locked on the daiyoukai.
He stood in the water just a few feet from her his gold eyes bright like two suns in the dark. The stunning demon Lord glowed like a fallen angel in the moon's rays. His beauty was breathtaking and made her almost stumble on the slippery river bed in awe.
He continued to observe her silently as she progressed towards him with his sharp stare fixated on her. His predatory gaze was nerve-wracking. The miko finally stopped in front of the demon Lord. Her body shook from the coldness of the water and the autumn air.
Slowly, she placed her small white hand on his larger one. It still glowed a neon green from his acidic youki. Careful of the deadly tips of his talons, she gently guided his claw down to his side. She ignored the pain of his ominous, frigid youki even though it burned her hand. Instead she forced her own energy away that was rising to defend her.
He was already wavering towards decapitating her and she doubted he would hesitate if her powers rose - she needed to appear as harmless and docile as possible.The priestess kept her head down. She dared not look into Sesshoumaru's eyes now that she was this close to him. If she did so it could be seen as a challenge and that challenge would end very badly for her.
Kagome drew in a shaky breath and whispered, "Trust me, Sesshoumaru."
